Seven County Down businesses shortlisted for 2016 Pub of the Year Awards
The search to find Northern Ireland’s best hospitality venues steps up a notch this week, as the shortlist for Hospitality Ulster’s prestigious Pub of the Year Awards 2016 is revealed.
Seven Pubs, Restaurants, Hotels and Individuals across County Down have been named amongst the 46 shortlisted premises from right across Northern Ireland that will go head to head to be named the toast of the trade at the top industry Awards next month.
This year, three Country Down venues could be double award winners after being shortlisted in two separate Award categories each.
The Canal Court Hotel & Spa in Newry is up for Hotel Bar of the Year 4 & 5* and Commitment to Local Food (Hotel), while The Hillside in Hillsborough has been shortlisted for Commitment to Local Food (Restaurant) and Commitment to the Community.
The shortlisted County Down premises include:
Hotel Bar of the Year 4*-5*

Commitment to Local Food (Restaurant) in partnership with Food NI/Taste of Ulster
• The Hillside, Hillsborough, Co. Down
• The Yellow Heifer, Camlough, Co. Down
Commitment to Local Food (Hotel) in partnership with Food NI/Taste of Ulster
• Canal Court Hotel & Spa, Newry, Co. Down
• Slieve Donard Resort & Spa, Newcastle, Co. Down
Pub of the Year (Rural)
• The Lobster Pot Bar/Restaurant, Strangford, Co. Down
Hotel Bar of the Year 1*-3*
• Ivanhoe Inn & Hotel, Carryduff, Co. Down
Commitment to the Community
• The Hillside, Hillsborough, Co. Down
Commitment to Local Food (Pub) in partnership with Food NI/Taste of Ulster
• The Parlour Bar, Newtownards, Co. Down
Food and Beverage Manger of the Year
• Breandán Kerr, Ivanhoe Inn & Hotel, Carryduff, Co. Down
In recognition of the ever widening scope of the hospitality industry in Northern Ireland, a total of 13 Awards are up for grabs, each designed to highlight the very best that the sector has to offer.
The winners of the 13 Awards will be revealed at a special gala awards night hosted by U105 presenter, Frank Mitchell, at the Ramada Plaza on Wednesday 16th November 2016.
