South Armagh footpath refurbishment welcomed
Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Larkin has welcomed the long overdue refurbishment of footpaths at Forest Park in Dromintee.
“This work was scheduled to take place over twelve months ago but fell foul of Danny Kennedy’s policy of stagnation and neglect,” he told Newry Times.
“These paths had deteriorated to such an extent that they were a hazard to residents and visitors. I continued to lobby the Department throughout this period of uncertainty.
“Staff within this sector were working under ever increasing restrictions and regrettably were unable to provide the service demanded by the community.
“Thankfully, with Chris Hazzard taking up the post as Minister, we have seen a new approach to dealing with the problems within our towns and villages.

Larkin added, “The logjam has been removed and the backlog of work is being tackled. Householders at Forest Park are impressed with the work so far and look forward to its completion.”
