Armagh Down Cycling Club welcomes new members

If you’ve been thinking about getting into cycling, now’s the time to meet the members of Armagh Down Cycling Club.

cc-bryan-mccrystal-1On Wednesday, 26th October Armagh Down CC will be holding its annual membership night and it’s the perfect opportunity to go along and find out what’s on offer.

A warm welcome awaits and you can chat with current members to find out the benefits of cycling with a locally run club, plus there are some fantastic guest speakers – including Irish cyclist and triathlete Bryan McCrystal and Gerard Hughes, owner and proprietor of Cycle Recycle Newry.

Bryan McCrystal is one of the country’s best domestic riders and has just returned from competing in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. Having been the fastest man in his category on the bike leg, who better to provide some detail into the training, determination and the dietary requirements to compete at this level?

Bryan will also provide some insight into his training methods and will be on hand for a Q&A throughout the evening.

Gerard Hughes is a Velotech Certified Trainer to platinum level in bicycle maintenance, with many years’ experience in maintaining and restoring bicycles. Gerard will give a practical demonstration on bike maintenance, which will enable any cyclist to perform a basic repair to get them home in the event of a mechanical issue during a training ride.

“Everyone is welcome to our membership night; it’s a great way for those thinking of joining a club to come and chat to us first-hand, plus you can get some top tips from our guest speakers,” said Benny Smyth, chairman, Armagh Down Cycling Club.

“We are delighted that Bryan McCrystal and Gerard Hughes will be giving talks and demonstrations and we urge anyone thinking of taking up cycling to come along.”
