‘All-Ireland forum must hear from broad range of groups’ – Fearon

Sinn Féin MLA Megan Fearon has said it is important the all-Ireland forum to discuss the impact of the EU referendum hears from a broad range of groups from across the island.

fearon14The Sinn Féin Junior Minister said, “This announcement from Taoiseach Enda Kenny that the first meeting of the all-Ireland Forum to discuss the impact of the EU referendum will take place on November 2nd is long overdue.

“In the immediate aftermath of the referendum Sinn Féin called on the Taoiseach to establish a forum which is representative of a wide range of civic and political opinion from across the island.

“Now, months on from the referendum the Taoiseach is finally going to convene the forum,” the local MLA continued.

“It is important that the forum hears from a broad range of interest groups including civic society, agriculture, trade unions, political parties, trade unions, the business community and others.

october-2016Fearon added, “The majority of people in the north voted to remain in the EU and that fact should be foremost in the mind of the Irish government with the establishment of this forum.”
