Credit Union staff commended
SDLP Councillor Pete Byrne has praised the dedicated staff, members and directors who have worked to safeguard the future of the Credit Union in Crossmaglen following the opening of its new premises.
Speaking to Newry Times, Byrne said, “During the opening of the Credit Unions magnificent new premises in Crossmaglen, my colleague Council Chairperson Gillian Fitzpatrick and I were struck by the dedication and enthusiasm of staff, members and directors.
“What they have achieved here is absolutely phenomenal and it is a testament to the hard work put in over the last number of years. The Credit Union has always been at the heart of Crossmaglen helping to improve the lives of local people and giving local businesses a leg up especially through tough economic times.
“At a time when confidence in banks is at an all-time low, membership of Credit Unions has risen and lending has increased across the North. It comes as no surprise that people are turning to their local Credit Union to seek assistance.

Byrne added, “I’d like to wish everybody involved in Crossmaglen Credit Union continued success in the future and encourage local people to support this not for profit organisation.’
