‘British government clueless over Brexit’ – Murphy

Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy has said the British government is clearly clueless over how to deal with the impact of the Brexit referendum.

“It is becoming increasingly clear that British Tory government ministers are clueless on what their intentions are over Brexit,” Murphy said.

“On one hand James Brokenshire is claiming he does not want to see a hard border and on the other Liam Fox doesn’t even want to be part of a customs union.

“Obviously they have absolutely no clear plan or direction on the way forward.

He added, “One thing that is clear, however, is the fact that the majority of people in the north voted to remain in the EU and the best way to avoid a hard border is to respect that vote.”
