Memorial to 18 soldiers killed in Warrenpoint damaged

Police are appealing for information after damage was caused to a memorial at Narrow Water in Warrenpoint.

narrow waterShortly before 10am this morning, Tuesday 19th July, police received a report that floral tributes at the memorial to the 18 soldiers killed in the Narrow Water Massacre had been destroyed.

Speaking to Newry Times, Sgt Amanda Ford said, “Officers are currently investigating this report and part of our enquiries will be to establish if there is any hate motivation behind this incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity recently, or anyone who may have information that could assist in our enquiries, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 329 of 19th July.
