Attack on woman in Newry ‘horrific’ – Brady
Newry and Armagh MP Mickey Brady has described an attack on a woman in Newry as horrific.
Police were alerted to the injured woman whilst following up on an earlier call from a member of the public where they attended a report of an intoxicated male at the Fiveways Roundabout.
It is believed that police are treating the incident as a suspected serious assault although it is still unclear how the woman sustained her injuries.
“This was an absolutely horrific attack which has a left a woman with life threatening head injuries,” Brady told Newry Times.
“There are few other details at the moment but obviously our thoughts and prayers are with the victim whom we wish a full and fast recovery.

“The local community has been left in shock at such a callous attack. People in this area would be quite close knit; this is a quiet area and such a brutal assault has caused genuine fear and unrest.
He added, “I’d urge anybody with any information on this despicable attack to contact the PSNI and help make our streets that bit safer.”
