Councillor blasts ‘shameful, reckless idiots’ after latest dumping in Camlough
Councillor Roisin Mulgrew has described the latest dumping incident in Camlough as shameful.
“Yet again thoughtless, inconsiderate and reckless idiots have seen fit to dump their mess, this time at the Keggal Road viewpoint,” she told Newry Times.
“On this occasion the waste includes building material and old insulation which is now blowing about the entire area.
“Council officials will visit the site to search for items which may identify those responsible and I hope prosecutions will follow.
“Every year tens of thousands of pounds of ratepayer’s money is wasted tackling this mindless dumping. This money could be spent on improving services or creating a few extra jobs or indeed reducing the rates.
“Both myself and my Sinn Féin colleagues have campaigned tirelessly to get investment and events coming into South Armagh. The success of this will be evident over the summer months when a range of festivals will be hosted in the Gullion area.

Mulgrew added, “It angers me beyond words that this could be the image that visitors to this beautiful area will be exposed to. I have no hesitation in asking anyone who knows those responsible for this selfish, despicable act to please report them to an Environmental Health officer or the PSNI.”
