Car and house targeted by arsonists

Police in Newry are appealing for information following two fires in Kilkeel on Wednesday, 11th May.

At 2.23am police received a report of a car on fire at Newry Street. The car was completely destroyed in the blaze.

At 3.33am police received a report of a fire in a derelict house in Carn Gardens. NIFRS dealt with both fires which are being treated as arson.

A 24 year old man has since been arrested on suspicion of arson and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to either of these incidents. They can be contacted on 101, quoting ref: 85 110516.
