Hearty urges community groups to attend funding seminar

Sinn Féin Councillor Terry Hearty is urging volunteer and community groups to attend a workshop on funding applications this week.

hearty1The Slieve Gullion representative said it was vital that groups that get funding from the council familiarise themselves with new procedures for applications.

“I would urge all voluntary and community groups out there, indeed any group which seeks funding from the council, to attend the workshops on offer this week and familiarise themselves with the new procedures for funding applications,” he said.

“We have numerous groups in the area who do fantastic work with the money they get so it’s vital that they continue to receive that funding and aren’t denied it on a technicality.

“The applications for funding get more and more competitive every year so if groups want to give themselves the best possible chance at success then they should attend the funding workshops happening in the next few days,” he added.

The first is in Bessbrook Community Centre on Tuesday, February 23rd at 7pm and the second is in Crossmaglen Community Centre this Wednesday, February 24th at 7pm.
