Paint bomb attack on Newry house

Police in Newry are appealing for information after jars of paint were thrown at a house in Chequer Court.

psni57At around 3.50am on Tuesday, 12th January, three or four jars of paint were thrown at the house.

Police are treating this as a hate crime and enquiries are ongoing. Police would like to hear from anyone who has information which may assist their investigation. They can be contacted on 101, quoting ref: 70 120116.

Sinn Féin Newry Councillor Charlie Casey condemned the paint bomb attack. “This is thuggish behaviour and has absolutely no place in the society we are trying to build here,” he said.

“There can be no excuse for these kinds of attacks and I’m sure the entire community will stand behind me on that.

He added, “I’d urge anyone who has any information on this attack to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
