Newry police appeal for information after theft of handbags and phones

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a theft from a vehicle.

psni55Sometime between 11.30am and 12.00pm on Tuesday, 1st December, a silver Renault Capture car was broken into near Spelga Dam car park on Silevenaman Road, Hilltown.

The window of the vehicle was broken and handbags, phones and wallets were taken.

A handbag containing some of these items was later recovered close to St Colman’s Chapel on Newry Road, Rathfriland on 6th December.

Speaking to Newry Times, Sergeant Gilmore said, “We would like to hear from anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area of Spelga Dam car park on 1st December or anyone who noticed a handbag being discarded near the chapel in Rathfriland. We can be contacted on 101, quoting ref: 406 011215.
