SDLP South Down MLA Seán Rogers has urged local environmental groups to apply for the recently announced funding pot from Department of Environment. Cllr_SeanRogersSpeaking to Newry Times, Rogers said, “There are some exceptional groups working hard to protect and promote our environment in a range of ways. “Funding has been under threat and I very much welcome that the Minister has put aside a sum of money for local groups to access. I welcome his recognition that these groups need to be supported so they can continue in their areas of expertise. “We live in an outstanding area with a range of habitats and it is up to us to ensure that our stunning surroundings are protected and celebrated. All groups wanting to apply for the 2015/16 have until the 10th December to submit an application,” he added.
