Delight at £129,500 funding announcement for St Mary’s

Sinn Féin Newry and Armagh MLA Conor Murphy has welcomed an announcement from the Heritage Lottery Fund that they are to award £129,500 to St Mary’s Church.

The funding is for capital repair, conservation works and audience development.

“This is fantastic news for the church and the local community,” he told Newry Times.

“There has recently been huge efforts put in by the congregation to raise funds for the maintenance and repair of the church and it’s wonderful to see those efforts paying off.

Murphy added, “I have no doubt St Mary’s will continue to be a focal point for people in the community for generations to come.”
