“I was contacted by relatives of the eldest resident in the village asking that I intercede on her behalf with NIE in relation to work carried out by the company at Bay View, Jonesborough,” he said.

“Over the last few months NIE has been upgrading the network in the area. During this time they replaced wiring feeding into houses at Bay View from a pole in this lady’s back yard. Four weeks later the trench they dug was still not filled in.

“On the eve of the resident’s 94th birthday I was contacted by a relative of the lady who was concerned at the delay in rectifying the damage. I immediately contacted NIE and was assured that a crew would call to repair the back yard.

Larkin added, “This work was completed the next day. I would like to thank the staff at NIE for their prompt action. Sometimes all it takes is a phone call and on this occasion it worked.”
