New Director of Acute Services takes up post at Southern Trust
The Southern Health and Social Care Trust has appointed Esther Gishkori as the new Director of Acute Services.
Esther has been a nurse for over 30 years and has seen many changes in that time.
She has worked across primary and secondary care and has also worked as a healthcare consultant in the Middle East.
The newly appointed Director complimented the work that has been carried out across the Southern Health and Social Care Trust’s acute hospital network in the past, and explained that she is eager to help the services continue to develop.
She told Newry Times, “The Southern Trust’s acute hospital network – Craigavon area and Daisy Hill Hospital – has been recognised one of the best in the UK for four consecutive years now.
“Each year in our very busy hospitals, there are approximately 370,000 outpatient appointments, 117,000 Emergency Department attendances, 56,000 inpatient admissions and over 6,000 births.
“While managing over half a million patient contacts each year, our staff are committed to delivering a very high standard of care every day, for every patient.
Esther added, “I believe that Health and Social care exists in a very challenging environment but I’m extremely encouraged by the passion and drive demonstrated by staff at operational level and I’m looking forward to working with them to achieve positive outcomes.”
