Fearon welcomes progress of Children’s Bill
Sinn Féin MLA Megan Fearon has welcomed the progress of the Children’s Bill through the Assembly.
“The latest progress of the Children’s Services Cooperation Bill is to be welcomed,” Fearon said.
“It places a legal requirement on children’s authorities to work together to improve services. This will lead to better outcomes for children as it will remove duplication and allow departments and organisations to be able to share resources.
“It places the rights of the child front and centre instead of the previous situation where institutions were given primacy.
She added, “The progress of this bill today is a positive step forward for children and young people and I was pleased to co-sign a number of amendments to bring further positive changes to this important legislation.”
