Fearon probes Foster on NAMA
Newry and Armagh MLA Megan Fearon has called on the DUP to fully engage with the NAMA Inquiry during an exchange in the Assembly.
The South Armagh MLA asked the Minister of Finance and Personnel Arlene Foster what contact her Department has had with the National Asset Management Agency relating to the proposed sale of Project Eagle to PIMCO.
Minister Foster said her department “routinely engaged with NAMA” but the Sinn Fein MLA probed further.
“I thank the Minister for her answer so far. Why has her Department’s permanent secretary continued to hide from the Finance Committee’s inquiry into the NAMA issue? Is it for party political reasons? I do not know whether anyone really believes the NCA excuse that the DUP is hiding behind?
Mrs Foster claimed she didn’t hear the question. “I am sorry; I did not catch the last bit of the question. As regards my permanent secretary, Mr Sterling, hiding from the Committee, he has been to the Committee on two occasions now and has been very helpful to the Committee, as I understand it. I am not sure where the Member is coming from in relation to her question.”
