‘Emergency services vital at Daisy Hill hospital’ – Fearon
Sinn Féin MLA Megan Fearon has said it is vital that emergency medical services are delivered at Daisy Hill hospital.
Speaking during an Assembly adjournment debate on the issue, the Newry and Armagh MLA said, “Daisy Hill Hospital has a great record of providing care for people across South Armagh.
“It was disappointing that the former health minister was neither in the chamber to hear the debate or at his desk working to improve the health service.
“It seems he is quite happy to engage in stunts by going back to his post for a brief period but did not think the future of services at Daisy Hill Hospital was important enough to warrant his attention,” Fearon remarked.
“I met with representatives from the Southern Trust recently to discuss Daisy Hill hospital and its importance for the local area. Recruitment of doctors for Daisy Hill Hospital needs to happen as soon as possible so the best possible services can be delivered for patients.
She added, “The people of Newry and Armagh deserve better treatment than they have been getting to date from the health service.”
