Harvey McCabe cheque presentation in Camlough
Newry, Mourne and Down Chair Naomi Bailie was in Camlough last week where she met the McCcabe family and presented them with a cheque for their charity, Thumbs Up For Harvey.
Councillor Roisin Mulgrew introduced Naomi to the family and explained how, following the death of little Harvey at just two and a half, they had come together with the support of both the Bessbrook Residents Association and the Camlough Community Association to organise a family fun day.
“The family want to raise enough money to provide a soft play area or perhaps a sensory area within the hospital so children with severe disabilities and young babies will have a safe space to play and explore,” Cllr Mulgrew explained.
Harvey’s mum Clare told Naomi that fundraising is ongoing and while the family are taking a bit of time out they hope to have another event organised in the New Year.
Councillor Mulgrew praised the family and the Bessbrook and Camlough communities for all their hard work while both herself and Naomi pledged their continuing support.
