McKevitt to meet Roads Service following tragic local road accidents

SDLP South Down MLA Karen McKevitt is to meet with Roads Service following a fatal accident on the Killowen Road and a subsequent accident nearby the site recently.

Speaking to Newry Times, she said, “I want to extend my deepest sympathies to the victim of Tuesday’s tragic fatal collision and their family at this very difficult time.

“The entire community will rally round and offer our heartfelt support. I understand that following the tragic crash, there was another accident shortly after 8am the following morning very close to the same site where a car came to rest in a garden. The driver sustained injuries but thankfully they aren’t critical.

McKevitt added, “I would urge all drivers in the area to exercise extreme caution in the time ahead. I will be meeting with Roads Service as soon as possible to explore what can be done to make the stretch of road safer for all users.”
