Rostrevor Ladies arrived at Burren on Saturday evening knowing they had a big task ahead of them. rostrevor24Burren are a formidable side who demonstrated that during their league encounter earlier in the year, where they played Rostrevor off the field. But, when it comes to championship everyone knows things are different. The first half was 30mins of non-stop, high intensity play from the reds where they racked up an impressive 4-11 to 0-4, with fantastic goals coming from the full forward line. The second half saw Burren turn on the charm as they started to close the deficit, scoring some fine points from play as Rostrevor seemed tired having emptied the tanks in the first half. If it was not for the unbelievable double block from keeper Brenda Russell the score line would have been slightly different and may have given the lift Burren needed. This save seemed to push the reds on during the closing quarter of the game as Rostrevor found their second wind and finished the game 6-12 to 1-11 Now it’s back to hard work as the Reds know nothing has been won yet and this is just a small step in their long journey. Next obstacle in their path is Loughinisland in 2 weeks.
