Man dies after Rostrevor collision

A man has died following a collision on the Killowen Road today, Newry police have revealed.

Speaking to Newry Times, Inspector Andy McGowan said, “Police can confirm that a man has died following a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a car on the Killowen Road, between Kilkeel and Rostrevor earlier today, Tuesday, 4 August. Roads are still closed.”

South Down SDLP MLA Seán Rogers spoke to Newry Times as news broke of another road tragedy.

Rogers said, “This is devastating news. A family has received the knock at their door which everyone dreads. A death in such sad circumstances.

He added, “It really is heart-breaking and my thoughts and prayers are with this man’s family and friends at this terrible time.”
