‘Newry arsonists showed breath-taking recklessness’ – Fitzpatrick
SDLP Deputy Mayor of Newry, Mourne and Down Council Gillian Fitzpatrick has condemned an attempted arson which took place in Newry on Monday night. Police are investigating an attack on a flat on Cleary Crescent where flammable liquid was poured on the front door of the flat and set alight. Gillian said, “This kind of criminality is simply unacceptable. Any act of arson is abhorrent but to target a block of flats is particularly dangerous with the huge risk of fire spreading to adjoining properties. “The arsonist responsible showed breath-taking recklessness and disregard for the innocent people who could have been killed in their own homes. She added, “I would like to urge anybody who has any information relating to this attack to contact the police on 101.” More on this story: Newry arson attack ‘could have ended in unimaginable tragedy’
