Free workshop at Newry Museum on researching WW1 ancestors
Newry and Mourne Museum will be holding a free genealogy workshop on Monday 29th June from 2pm-4.30pm.
Entitled “Researching First World War Ancestors”, the workshop will be taken by Professor Richard Grayson from Goldsmiths, University of London.
Professor Grayson is author of Belfast Boys: How Unionists and Nationalists Fought and Died Together in the First World War.
Whether your ancestor was in the army, navy or air force, the workshop will introduce the various sources available for researching those who served, allowing attendees to build up a better picture of the role played by their ancestors.
Light refreshments will be available and you will also be able to pick up a complimentary copy of the Museum’s new 100-page publication on Newry’s Roll of Honour, listing over 830 individuals from the town who had enlisted by April 1915.
There is no charge to attend the event but as space is limited places should be booked in advance. To reserve a place email museum@newryandmourne.gov.uk or call 028 3031 3182.
This workshop is funded by the Heritage Lottery.
