‘Greencastle ferry can help tourism industry’ – Ruane
Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has said that while the Greencastle Ferry can help boost the local economy the concerns of the local residents must be also be taken into consideration.
Ruane said, “The decision to grant planning permission for the Greencastle Ferry can be the catalyst to open up the entire South Down North Louth area for tourism and business.
“I am also conscious of the concerns of local residents and welcome the fact that conditions have been built into the permission in order to address some of these concerns.
“Sinn Fein has always promoted cross border projects as long as they have the support of the local community so it is essential that people are in agreement before proceeding.
She added, “The South Down area is under utilised in terms of its tourism potential and the creation of this service could open the entire region up for economic regeneration.”
