Man kicked and punched on the head during Newry assault

Police in Newry are appealing for information following an assault. psni13At around 1.45am on Monday, 4th May, the wing mirror of a car was kicked by a number of people on Coalpit Road. The 44 year old male driver of the car exited the vehicle and was set upon by a group of people, possibly six or seven of them. The man was kicked and punched to the body and head and sustained injuries which required medical attention. Sergeant Christopher Tate told Newry Times, “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this assault or has information which may assist our investigation.
