Sinn Fein organised the meeting with senior BT official Frank McManus attending to give an update on the broadband rollout and timeframes on when broadband would be available in parts of south Armagh.

Those in attendance also had a chance to question Mr. McManus on when broadband would be available at specific addresses.

Speaking after the event Mickey Brady said Sinn Fein would continue to monitor the progress of the broadband rollout in the area.
“Firstly, I want to welcome this initiative and thank all those who attended.

“It’s one thing for politicians to be able to tell you that broadband is on its way but we felt it would be much more constructive to get BT out here and have them speak directly to the people,” he said.

“Judging from the questions tonight there is clearly a lot of misunderstanding and uncertainty about how, where and when broadband will be available and we hope this has cleared up a lot of those issues for people.

He added, “There was a huge amount of information offered tonight and Sinn Fein will continue to monitor the rollout of broadband in south Armagh to ensure that what is, in this day and age, a basic and necessary service, is delivered to every house in the area.”
