Brady congratulates Youth Council Flagship Event
Newry and Armagh MLA Mickey Brady has commended the work of Newry and Mourne Youth Council after attending their flagship event, the Youth and Future Talent Awards.
The YAFTAs are organised and run exclusively by the Youth Council and award young people’s involvement in a number of fields, including; Community Safety, Young Carer, Good Relations and Inspirational Young Person.
Groups and individuals from all over Newry, South Armagh and South Down were nominated, with Mickey Brady describing each one as worthy of the award.
“I’d like to pass on my congratulations not just to the very deserving winners but to all those who were nominated,” he said.
“The level of dedication displayed by all the individuals and groups was truly inspiring and bodes well for the future of the area. The YAFTAs were massively enjoyable, a tribute to both the Youth Council and the young people of our area.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to meet with the Youth Council on a number of occasions through the year. Their level of commitment to community activism is outstanding.
“I had a great engagement with the Youth Council a few weeks ago as Mayor Dáire Hughes, Megan Fearon MLA and Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson spent a few hours discussing the issues of the day with them.
Brady added, “I can safely say, after these engagements, that the future of this district is bright.”
