Bogus NIE caller in Rostrevor sought by police

Local police are appealing for information following a possible bogus caller incident.

At around 1.30pm on Monday, 23rd February, a man called to a house in the Kilbroney Road area of Rostrevor.

He claimed to be from NIE and asked about the possibility of erecting a pole in the field to the rear of the property.

Constable Ken Behan explained, “The occupant of the house accompanied the man to the rear of the property for a short time before returning to the house. Later it was discovered that items in a bedroom had been moved.

“The male caller is described as being around 6ft tall, of medium build with dark, curly hair. He was wearing a navy boiler suit with red trim around the shoulders. He was travelling in a dark coloured car.

He added, “We would like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to this incident and can be contacted on 101, quoting ref: 546230115.”
