Police hunting silver BMW after Newry burglary

Local police are reminding the public to report suspicious activity to police straight away.

The reminder follows a number of burglaries and an attempted burglary in Newry, Armagh and County Monaghan over the weekend in which a silver BMW 3 Series car is believed to have been involved.

Inspector Kieran Quinn, Armagh Response and Neighbourhood, said, “We have been conducting a number of enquiries following these incidents and, during house to house calls, a number of members of the public said they had noticed a car of this description acting suspiciously.

“When we receive information like this, as it happens, we are able to target our resources and build a clear picture of movement and exactly what is occurring which increases our opportunities for apprehending criminals.

“We understand that many people do not want to waste police time or are simply going about their business however you know your own area best, you know what looks out of place or doesn’t feel quite right. This is the type of information that we welcome and that assists us in preventing and detecting crime.

He added, “If you notice anything suspicious in your area please contact us immediately on 101.”
