South Armagh pensioner burglary condemned

Newry & Mourne Sinn Féin Councillor Liz Kimmins has urged continued community vigilance after details were revealed of a burglary which recently took place in the home of a Meigh pensioner .

The local Councillor stated, “A burglary took place at the home of a pensioner in Meigh on Wednesday 21st Jan at approximately 6.30pm.

“Police are appealing for anyone with any information in relation to this specific crime or indeed any others, to contact them.”

The Sinn Féin representative also said news that two males had been charged on Saturday past with 59 charges linked to similar incidents in a number of areas including South Down and Banbridge would be welcomed by all.

“It is important that those who are engaged in these cowardly crimes against in particular our elderly are apprehended and face the full rigours if the law. I would ask the community to remain vigilant and look out for each other.”
