‘Time for Narrow Water Bridge completion’ – Ruane
Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has said that the time has come for the Irish Government to stand up and deliver the Narrow Water Bridge for the people of South Down and Louth.
Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “In the Stormont House Agreement the Irish Government reiterated its support for the completion of the Narrow Water Bridge.
“The completion of this bridge would open the entire Carlingford region for business including an improved tourist trail. The time has now come for action on the bridge and the Irish Government must come up to the plate by reinforcing its words by actions.
“There is cross party and cross border support for the construction of this bridge and if the political will is evident I believe we can see the beginning of this bridge in the coming months.
Ruane added, “I will be working with my party colleagues on both sides of the border in order to keep the Narrow Water Bridge at the top of the political agenda and see that any commitments given are honoured so that the people of Louth and South Down can begin to enjoy the benefits of the new infrastructure.”
