Local police probe handbag theft from car
Police in South Down are appealing for information following the theft of a handbag from a car.
On Sunday, 11th January, a member of the public parked their silver Volkswagen Passat car in a lay-by opposite St Louis High School to visit graves in Massforth Cemetery, Newry Road, Kilkeel, around 5pm.
The motorist was away from the car for approximately 15 minutes and, during that time, the front passenger window was smashed and a handbag stolen from the footwell. The handbag contained bank cards and a sum of cash.
Speaking to Newry Times, Constable McDonald said, “We believe Newry Road would have been busy around this time and we would like to hear from anyone who noticed anyone around this car or has information in relation to this incident. We can be contacted in Kilkeel on 101, quoting ref: 680110115.”
If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
