Alliance Councillor Patrick Clarke has welcomed the launch of Tourism Ireland’s marketing plans for 2015, which target increases in overseas visitors and spend and will include promoting events like the Irish Open at Royal County Down. The announcement was made by Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister regarding Tourism Ireland 2015 marketing plans. Clarketold Newry Times, “I am very pleased that the promotion of the Irish Open at Royal County Down in Newcastle from 28th – 31st May has been included and will feature prominently as part of Tourism Ireland’s global marketing plans for 2015. “Next year Tourism Ireland will be working hard to maximise the tourism potential of the Irish Open at Royal County Down in Newcastle in May 2015, as well as promoting Northern Ireland as a top golf tourist destination. “It is only right with a prestigious golfing event such as the Irish Open coming to the Royal County Down in Newcastle in May 2015 that Tourism Ireland should market and promote Newcastle and this region of Northern Ireland to a global tourist audience,” he added.
