Farry launches recruitment event with 100+ vacancies
Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry is inviting local jobseekers to a recruitment and job interview event.
The event takes place at the Holiday Inn, Ormeau Avenue, Belfast, on Wednesday, 17th December 2014 from 9am to 1.30pm and will feature five major employers in the Belfast area who wish to recruit staff.
The companies involved are BT, Firstsource Solutions, Concentrix, Teleperformance and Convergys and will have over 100 vacancies on offer including customer service and telephone banking opportunities. Many of these companies are seeking staff to start work in January 2015.
The Minister said, “Clearly this event demonstrates employers are seeking to recruit and that there are employment opportunities for jobseekers.
“This recruitment and job interview event brings employers and jobseekers together under one roof, and allows attendees to avail of up to five interviews on the day, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
“My Department’s Careers Service and Employment Service will also provide individuals with information, advice and guidance on a range of training and employment schemes. These can help equip people with the skills to compete in the labour market and meet the needs of employers both now and in the future.”
All employers at the event will carry out 10-minute presentations to groups of participants, who will rotate around each employer station, giving clients the opportunity to find out more about the type of jobs each company has to offer and the type of person each company looks for in a potential employee.
Candidates will also have an opportunity to talk to the company directly and ask questions. Following these sessions, all participants will be guaranteed an initial interview with each company for positions on offer, provided they meet that company’s required criteria.
The Department’s Careers Service will be available at the event to provide applicants with advice and guidance and help to prepare them for interview. There will also be the opportunity for clients to use the job search facility available to them on the day.
Staff from the Department’s Job Clubs will also be on hand to offer advice on topics such as CV writing and presentation, how to develop social media skills to help with jobsearch, how, where and when to look for jobs and selling skills to employers.
