Bradley lends support to Community Transport Network
SDLP Newry and Armagh Dominic Bradley has backed Community Transport Network NI’s (CTNNI) campaign against proposed cuts that could affect its services to vulnerable people across Northern Ireland.
Speaking to Newry Times, Bradley explained, “For every one pound invested in community transport in Northern Ireland, members of Community Transport Network generate approximately £12 of social value. That is under threat.
“The annual economic impact of volunteer drivers amount to over £750,000 worth of voluntary effort to local communities.
“In previous years, the Department for Regional Development have been able to find additional funding to meet the increasing demands of the Community Transport partnerships.
“CTNNI members are proud to be registered charities operating socially necessary transport groups right across Northern Ireland. They need support to protect vital value for money community transport services now under threat. I fully support them and the work they do,” he added.
