Support Children’s Hospice Big Collection at Tesco Newry

Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice volunteers will be out in force collecting donations at Tesco stores in Newry, Banbridge and Newcastle from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th December, as part of the Tesco Big Collection Weekend for Children’s Hospice.

Launching the Tesco Big Collection Weekend for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice are Store Managers Clare Ormsby, (Tesco Extra Newry) Siobhan McKay (Tesco Banbridge Superstore) and Matt Lovell (Tesco Newcastle)

The charity is encouraging everyone to support them by making a donation as they collect across Tesco stores for one weekend only.

The Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is hoping to raise thousands over the weekend which will make a real difference to the lives of local children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.

Caoimhe Mannion, Marketing Manager for Tesco Northern Ireland commented, “Tesco are delighted to offer Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice the opportunity to raise vital funds across their stores from 5th -7th December.

“It is such an easy way to raise much needed funds for such a worthy cause and we encourage our customers and local communities to support them as much as possible.”

The Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is the only service of its type in Northern Ireland caring for children and young people with very complex needs who require 24 hour specialist care. Each year, NI Children’s Hospice cares for in the region of 300 life-limited children and their families in Northern Ireland.

Through this province-wide Tesco collection weekend, the charity hopes to raise thousands of pounds to help provide support and care for these local children and their families.

Lynn Cowan, Events Fundraiser for the Children’s Hospice, said, “Everyone at Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is extremely grateful to Tesco for the opportunity to collect at their stores. Christmas is a magical time of year, but it is also a time to remember those in need.

“It remains a challenge to raise the £3 million of necessary funds to maintain our services, which is why we are encouraging as many people as possible to support the Children’s Hospice by donating to our collectors at your local Tesco store.”
