South Armagh road resurface works welcomed

Slieve Gullion Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Larkin has welcomed the commencement of resurfacing in Mullaghbawn.

“Having lobbied the Roads Service for months on the need to upgrade the road from Mullaghbawn to Forkhill it is great to see the work has begun,” he told Newry Times.

The local councillor continued,” This much needed scheme will be carried out in three stages, the first being within the 30mph zone in Mullaghbawn itself.

“The second stage will see the Forkhill Road Mullaghbawn resurfaced and the final stage will be the Church Road Forkhill. I would ask the residents of the area to be patient whilst this work continues as there will be traffic controls in place.

Larkin added, “There are other roads in the area that need resurfaced and I will continue to liaise with the Department with a view to progressing work on them.”
