‘Time to build Narrow Water Bridge’ – Ruane

Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has said that the time is right for the construction of the Narrow Water Bridge to commence.

The bridge has been in the pipeline for decades

Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “I attended a meeting of the Good Friday Agreement implementation committee in Warrenpoint to discuss the single issue of the Narrow WaterBridge.

“The committee fully agreed that the project should proceed as the project is shovel ready to go. I am now calling on both the Assembly and Dáil Éireann to reiterate their commitment to the bridge by bringing forward the necessary funding to commence the construction of the bridge.

“It is proven that this bridge will open up the entire South Down and North Louth region for business and tourism.

She added, “The construction of the bridge will also provide a much needed economic boost to the region with the creation of jobs during the construction process so it is imperative we get a start date as soon as possible.”
