Young athletes were out in force for the first round of the Flahavan’s Porridge Athletics NI Primary School Cross Country League. Marcus McNeill from Ballydown PS, Banbridge and Caitlin Coffey and from St Malachy’s Primary School Camlough crossed the line first in the girls’ and boys’ races respectively. Entering its eighth season, the League officially launched at the beginning of October with the help of Commonwealth Games star Gladys Ganiel. The League continues to encourage young athletes to get involved with athletics and encourage them to participate in sport as part of a healthy lifestyle. Following the final the top 20 girls and boys will be invited to join the Flahavan’s Porridge Athletics NI Junior Cross Country Squad.
