Boylan concerned about autism diagnosis delays
Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Boylan has expressed concern about the number of children in the North waiting to be assessed to find out if they have autism.
Speaking after it was reported that 1,300 children are waiting on a diagnosis, Boylan said, “As a member of the Assembly’s all-party group on autism I am very concerned about the number of children awaiting diagnosis for the condition.
“This delay is very worrying for many parents and carers and the children themselves. This is an issue across all health trusts and the trusts must address it as a matter of urgency.
“I will be bringing this matter before the all-party group on autism to be discussed as soon as possible,” he added.
