Mayor urges vigilance as meeting hears of Newry crime activities
Speaking after attending a recent meeting of the Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) Cllr Dáire Hughes urged people to ensure that their homes and other properties such as sheds and barns were secured.
The current Mayor of Newry & Mourne explained, “At tonight’s PCSP meeting the PSNI reiterated the fact that sheds and barns remain a popular target for thieves.
“Apparently these criminal gangs are targeting power tools, gardening equipment and other such items. I would appeal to all to be extra vigilant towards their own properties but their neighbours as well.
Mayor Hughes added, “Myself and my Sinn Féin colleagues continue to meet senior PSNI Officers in the District as we work to promote and develop community safety and well being.”
