Mayor opens “Quiz the Experts” conference

The Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council Daire Hughes opened a major conference in The Mourne Country Hotel in Newry.

The event, which was labelled “Quiz the Experts”, was hosted by Newry and Mourne ME Fibromyalgia Group and included a panel of experts who deal with the condition.

Speaking after the event Mayor Hughes said, “I was privileged to open this important conference in Newry and welcome the participants that were taking part.

“This condition, which affects many people, is misunderstood by some within the medical profession and this event went some way to let sufferers tell their stories.

“This local group is doing fantastic work to raise awareness of the condition and explain to citizens how to go about getting help to deal with it. I know that my colleague Mickey Brady has met with the group several times and we will continue to assist them in their important work,” the Mayor added.
