Police probe after woman mugged in Newry

Police in Newry are appealing for information after a report of a robbery on Monaghan Street in Newry at around 10:35am on Monday 22nd September.

The incident happened on Monaghan Street

Speaking to Newry Times, Constable Young explained, “It was reported that a male stole a handbag from a female in the area.

“It is believed the male made off towards the Cornmarket area with the black leather handbag, which contained a sum of money.

“The male is described as being between 5’9″ and 5’10” tall, slim build and wearing a black beanie style hat and a grey hooded top. Enquiries are continuing.

“Police are continuing to appeal for information and anyone with any information is asked to contact them in Newry quoting reference 522220914.

He added, “Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
