Sinn Féin Newry & Armagh MP has supported the call from prisoners in Maghaberry for the implementation of changes that he believes would have the potential to resolve tensions in the jail. Speaking to Newry Times, the local MP said, “Sinn Féin supports the call from the prisoners to implement changes in Maghaberry. “Such changes are long overdue and many form part of an agreement reached between prison authorities and the prisoners which are still outstanding. These issues must be resolved to ensure that all prisoners can be treated with dignity and respect. He added, “Sinn Féin will continue to place pressure on the Justice Department to see that these important changes are put into effect.”
