Glasgow study visit for Newry Councillors
A delegation of Councillors from Newry and Mourne District Council’s Elected Members Forum undertook a study visit to Glasgow 12 – 14 September 2014.
The study visit explored issues relating to good relations, sectarianism, education, community engagement, sport, parading and community planning.
The study visit was hosted by Glasgow City Council and Councillors attended a reception with Councillors, Officials and Community Representatives of Glasgow City Council’s ‘Safer Glasgow Initiative’.
Councillors also had an opportunity to hear and learn from the ‘Sense Over Sectarianism’ programme, Old Firm Alliance Partnership and Glasgow City Council’s direct role in managing and dealing with public processions.
Mayor Daire Hughes said, “This was a productive visit and the learning will be useful in contributing to establishing good practice initiatives to address good relations in Newry and Mourne District.”
