Bosco ABC box their way to glory
After winning their mid ulster titles last weekend their 5 champions met the winners of the Derry/Donegal championships in the ulster finals in Newtownstewart.
First up for the Bosco was reigning Irish Champion Jake Tucker, who defeated Ryan Ward from Convoy ABC 3-0 on the judges score cards to secure his second Ulster title in a row.
Jake showed tremendous skill to totally outclass and out box his opponent. Jake now has booked his spot in the national finals where he aims to retain his status and the number 1 in his age and weight in Ireland.
Second up for the Bosco was Neil Mathers looking to secure his second Ulster title in a row. Neil Had a tough challenge ahead of him as he had to overcome the reigning Irish Champion Lee Harkin form Illies Golden Gloves ABC.
And overcome he did, in an intense 3 rounds of top level boxing Neil won all three rounds to book his place in the national finals on a judges score of 3-0.
Also booking their places in the National finals were Riain Mullholland, Brendan Mc Parland and last year’s Irish Champion Kane Tucker. The lads won their Ulster title by way of walkover.
A delighted Club Head Coach Adrian Patterson told Newry Times, “It takes alot of dedication and effort to reach this level of boxing. These young men dedicate a lot to box at this level and i’m very proud as is all of our coaching staff.”
