Gibbons welcomes replacement of Rostrevor shore safety railings

Sinn Féin representative for the Rostrevor area, Mark Gibbons has welcomed the replacement of railings at the slope area of the Shore Road in Rostrevor.

It follows lobbying by Gibbons earlier in the year regarding the poor state of the original safety railings.

Speaking to Newry Times, Gibbons commented, “In early January I made representations to the Council regarding the railings and steps at the Slope on the Shore Road Rostrevor.

“Following the very popular Christmas swim in the village, which was held on New Year’s Eve this year, several people came to myself to share their concerns regarding the rusted and dilapidated state of the railings and steps in the area.

He added, “We are delighted that the railings and steps in question have been replaced, and that the brave men and women who will take part in the next Christmas swim can enjoy their dip in a safer environment.”
